Knoxville Expo Center (Formally Merchants Drive 1-75 Expo Center) A new, larger and more accessible site has been procured for the 2004 RV & Camper Show. West Knoxville Sertoma (WKS) hopes to better meet the needs of both the exhibitors and the public. The site is four blocks from the Merchants Rd exit of 1-75 just one exit north of 1-640 around Knoxville. The interior will be entirely new with the usual utilities exhibitors have come to expect from past WKS shows. There will be four entrances for set-up, allowing quicker access to the larger floor space. A concession will be at the entrance. There will be a back entrance for exhibitors. The large, free parking area can be accessed from multiple points off Clinton Highway and Merchants Drive. An ample lobby at the front will provide enclosed waiting areas in time of inclement weather. Two improvements will be apparent inside this year. One, the aisle layout will be enhanced to provide more exposure to the exhibitors' spaces to the rear. Second, special displays in concert with the RV show but not competitive with the exhibitors will be sought and located in the interior of the floor. Booths will again be aggressively solicited for businesses that support the exhibitors. Food concessions will be solely the responsibility of the building owners. We hope you will join us this year as we move forward to better serve you the exhibitor. The time will be in January again to spur the prospective buyers to begin the 2003 season when sales are typically slow. The location is close to an interstate exit and traffic can easily flow from the interstate to the parking areas. The extensive advertising we use will take advantage of experienced advertisers previously used and including our additional spots we can obtain as a fund-raiser for our not-for-profit organization. The new location will dictate a larger advertising budget than in the past. It is our hope to make this 2004 RV & Camper Show by WKS a truly greater Tennessee show with the participation of in-town dealers as well as those located where recreational vehicles roam throughout East Tennessee. Further Improvements: In other shows there has been good acceptance of a video presentation area that periodically shows the material provided by the exhibitors and supporting non-profit Organizations in a low-light environment where sounds can be played to a seated audience. We can allow space for this if the exhibitors see the value of it for the 2004 show. The building owner indicates that an electronic marquee on the property may be installed to advertise the show. We cannot guarantee any of the above in this paragraph, but hope you will catch the vision of what possibilities can ensue in future years if not this. We appreciate your past support of the charities throughout the forty successful years of the West Knoxville Sertoma Greater Tennessee Sportsman Shows. The list includes the Boy Scouts of America, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Remote Area edical, Boys and Girls Club of Knoxville, and Volunteer Veterans Color Guard.
